Broken or chipped Tilux, a very hard asbestos product which is usually patterned (flowers or geometric pattern) can be found in bathrooms in shower recesses, as bath and sink splashbacks) and laundries (internal wall covering). Tilux was used in place of ceramic tiles.

Peeling paint can expose fibro to the elements. It is important to protect the fibro surface, paint over it and don’t sand or water blast the peeling paint. If you are unsure how to look after it, consult a professional.

Fire damage to asbestos sheeting can cause the asbestos to become friable with the potential to release damaging fibres into the atmosphere.

It is unsafe and illegal to leave broken or cut fibro lying around your property when renovating. Legislated disposal methods must be followed.
